Purpose of Role:
Mandelbaum Barrett is looking for an ambitious Billing Clerk – Entry Level to provide support to the accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the firm’s finances. This position's ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, and comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with administrative staff, attorneys, and accounting department
- Review and edit time entries to ensure proper matter coding, billing rates and compliance with attorney/client/e-billing guidelines
- Run pre-bills and review with attorneys and administrative staff
- Edit and finalize invoices in SurePoint
- Generate time and billing reports and other client reports as necessary
- Monthly review of retainer accounts and timely application of same to client invoices
- Assist with Accounts Receivable projects
- Ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications:
- Background in accounting, accounts receivable, legal accounting, or other relevant previous experience is preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Proficient in Word and Excel; comfort with technology and ability to learn new software and applications
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to treat sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
- Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to prioritize work and manage workflow with efficiency and accuracy
- A self-starter with a hands-on, action-oriented approach
- Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
- Works successfully in a team environment
- Polished, professional and ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and concisely
- Flexibility to work overtime
