The Opportunity
Marbles is hiring a playful, energetic part-time Guest Engagement Host with a focus on School Programs! This position plays an essential role in providing memorable, engaging, welcoming, and safe experiences for all museum visitors. As a Guest Engagement Host, you will assist guests in their museum experience by activating exhibits, working at the welcome desk, assisting with group visits and birthday parties, and more. In addition, the host will focus on school programs by delivering day of museum and IMAX field trip programs while ensuring all groups move efficiently throughout the campus. Every day is an exciting day at Marbles!
Job Responsibilities
Guest Engagement Host
- Perform museum opening and closing duties in collaboration with the guest engagement team.
- Receive and process customer payments while working the welcome desk.
- Describe museum layout and operational procedure details to customers.
- Act as a museum ambassador for guests to confide in and receive information that will enhance their visit. Share guest feedback with Guest Engagement Managers to make improvements.
- Playfully reset and inspect exhibit props throughout the day to ensure that exhibits are in safe, clean, welcoming, and playable condition at all times.
- Provide exhibit activation by playfully interacting with guests in museum exhibits to enhance the play and learning experience.
- Provide exceptional, responsive customer service to all museum guests; initiate interaction with guests.
- Stock supplies and manage packages delivered; may receive products as directed.
- Effectively communicate scheduling, equipment, inventory, and other operational issues with your manager.
School Programs
- Set up and break down program materials and spaces.
- Greet groups and ensure all groups move efficiently throughout the campus.
- Deliver school group programs (MasterMinds and Learning Labs) and facilitate museum exploration.
- Assist with other museum engagement operations during school group downtimes.
Other
- Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.
Experience and Skill Requirements
- 1 year of customer service experience, particularly with families and young children (preferred).
- Museum or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Experience with point-of-sale system a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience delivering programs, such as classroom instruction, theatrical performances, or interactive presentations to large groups of children.
- Experience with supporting child-led arts and making experiences.
Physical Demands
- Walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally using a ladder, and going up and down stairs
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Schedule
- Preferred schedule: 15 hours weekly on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
- Schedule flexibility is required including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Work Environment
- Exposure to a noisy and crowded atmosphere
- May need to walk between two buildings with some outdoor exposure.
