We Require
Two years of heavy-duty and off-road equipment mechanic experience
High School Diploma or GED
Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of Arizona
Must undergo drug and alcohol testing before employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout employment per County Policy and FTA Regulations
Must possess the tools required to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment in an efficient manner

Completion of a recognized heavy-duty equipment/diesel technician training program
Job Contributions
Inspect, diagnose, adjust, replace, and perform complex and specialized repairs on heavy equipment with minimal supervision
Perform routine preventative maintenance: oil and filter changes, equipment inspections, and annual D.O.T.
Consult with supervisors on vehicle problems, diagnostic issues, and performance
Communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and other associated personnel
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the work area
Perform minor metal and material fabrication
Maintain accurate work records
Read and use applicable service manuals and diagnostic equipment on a computer
Working Conditions
High physical work volumes, standing for prolonged periods /works in confined spaces, work is performed in an automotive shop setting. Must be able to work in all-weather types (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain). Must wear protective job equipment (i.e., uniforms, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes) in the shop environment. Must be able to hear, see, climb, crouch, bend, stoop, and lift/carry 50 pounds with or without the assistance of a cart or device. Must be able to lift arms above shoulder level to install and remove heavy-duty parts. Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely with an acceptable driving record
