- Must be at least 16 years old
- Ability to read and write in English
- Public contact or library experience
- Experience filing alphabetically
- Sort, shelve, and file various library materials accurately according to the library classification system
- Read shelves for accuracy, re-shelve misplaced items, and shift materials as assigned
- Unpack/pack boxes of books and other library materials
- Maintain appearance of work and public areas
- Locate and retrieve library materials from public and non-public areas for library staff or library users
- Check in library materials using the computerized library system and push carts loaded heavily with books
- Answer directional questions and refer customers to appropriate staff members for assistance
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers using the Library District’s Great Expectations customer service model
- Library environment with a varied schedule, requiring evening and weekend availability
- Ability to cover shifts at nearby libraries
- Ability to push, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
- Ability to lift 20 pounds floor-to-waist; lift 10 pounds waist-to-shoulder, lift 5 pounds shoulder-to-overhead, carry 15 pounds a distance of 50 feet, and push/pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet
