Job Type Unclassified Department Transportation About the Position The Striping Technician provides for the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the installation and maintenance of roadway pavement markings and documentation of those markings. Then join our team—and help us build connections Proud to Offer Perform work with a greater purpose Opportunities for growth and development within Maricopa County Low-cost, high-value healthcare for you and your qualifying dependents Enrollment in Arizona State Retirement System Paid vacation, sick, and parental (birth/adoption) leaves Extensive wellness program with $60 monthly medical premium discounts Employee discounts for goods and services Learn more at maricopa.gov/5284/Why-Work-Here We Require High school diploma or GED One year of experience in striping, sign installation, road marking, or other related experience in traffic signals and traffic control, OR two years of experience in roadway construction Arizona Class A Commerical Driver’s License (CDL) upon hire Arizona driver’s license required upon hire and have acceptable driving record We Also Value Experience driving a Paint Stripe Truck and/or a Chase Truck Completion of IMSA level 1 Signs & Markings Completion of "ATSSA Flagger" and "ATSSA Traffic Control Technician" Job Contributions Install and maintain roadway pavement markings Interpret and/or draw traffic diagrams and/or sketches of pavement marking layouts Interpret and mark roadways for the application of the appropriate roadway markings Assess and report roadway and traffic control conditions Operate and maintain two-way radio contact with MCDOT Dispatch Perform pre-check and pre-inspection of vehicles Operate a 2 ½ ton paint stripe truck, chase truck, or other vehicles as needed Load and unload equipment and materials Read maps, plan routes and prioritize assigned tasks Clean and maintain paint system Working Conditions Ability to work in all-weather types (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain) Must have manual dexterity of hands and body to operate office equipment as well as pavement marking walk behind equipment Ability to lift 80 pounds Requires driving to and from job related locations during course of scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding us Ability to obtain the following national certificates: "ATSSA Flagger" and "ATSSA Traffic Control Technician" within six months of the hire date "IMSA" Signs and Markings Level I within one year Selection Procedure Only the most qualified candidates will be considered Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer.
