About the Role:

The Optical Lab Tech specializing in Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating plays a critical role in the production and finishing of high-quality optical lenses used in eyeglasses and other vision correction devices. This position is responsible for applying AR coatings that enhance lens performance by reducing glare and improving visual clarity, thereby directly impacting patient satisfaction and visual health outcomes. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure coatings are applied uniformly and meet stringent quality standards. The technician will collaborate closely with lab supervisors and other optical professionals to maintain efficient workflow and troubleshoot any issues related to coating processes. Ultimately, this position contributes to the delivery of superior optical products that support the health and well-being of individuals relying on corrective lenses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate precision machinery and follow detailed technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or formal training in optical lab technology or a related field.
  • Experience with multiple types of AR coating equipment and techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance protocols in optical manufacturing.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and equipment interface.
  • Good communication skills are required to effectively work within a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lenses for AR coating by cleaning and inspecting them to ensure they are free of defects and contaminants.
  • Operate and maintain AR coating machines, including loading lenses, monitoring coating cycles, and adjusting settings as necessary.
  • Perform quality control checks on coated lenses to verify the coating thickness, adhesion, and optical clarity meet established standards.
  • Document production data and maintain accurate records of coating batches and machine maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with lab team members to identify and resolve coating defects or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Skills:

The required skills enable the technician to accurately prepare and process lenses through AR coating machines, ensuring each lens meets quality standards. Attention to detail is critical for identifying imperfections and maintaining consistent coating application.
