Job Description:
Job Purpose:
Mechanical Operators are equipment experts and are highly functional in multiple areas. Mechanical Operators ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality & continuous improvement. Able to troubleshoot various competencies: Pneumatic, Basic Hydraulic, Automation, Machining, and Mechanical Systems on all Process and Packaging Equipment with minimal guidance. Partner with production operators to properly maintain and repair equipment in a fast-paced, high-production work environment while prioritizing multiple mechanical and administrative tasks.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess a fundamental understanding of Pneumatic Schematics and Mechanical Drawings to solve problems in a timely manner at the component level on all assigned equipment, i.e., sorting systems and palletizing robots.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and conduct multi-task work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Willingness to develop required Technical Skills
- Ability to learn basic troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable with computer systems (Ex: MS Office, inventory systems, Excel, SAP, JDA, ATLAS etc.)
- Ability to work the required shift and meet the physical requirements (below)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.).
- Frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.).
- Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping.
- Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
- Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods (minimum 12 hours in one shift)
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance Technology and Electrical/Electronic Automated Systems.
- Technical Degree/Trade Certification or 4-6 years equivalent work experience required.
- Successful completion of Mars Apprenticeship Program or Co-op.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate basic capability in Excel.
- Demonstrate capability for using windows-based PCs.
- Provide relief for Shipping associate on shift.
- Demonstrate ability to use the Quality Systems Manual and access Nexus.
- Demonstrate capability to use and troubleshoot the JDA systems for Shipping Operations.
- Demonstrate completing Label Deletion Request in Weever.
- Demonstrate completing the Loading and Shipping Form.
- Demonstrate completing the Palletizing Report in Excel.
- Demonstrate capability to complete before/after trailer inspections.
- Demonstrate capability to verify Set Aside and Production Receiving Staging.
- Demonstrate ability to follow shipping priorities.
- Support Shipping & MSO associates in maintaining GMPs for the area.
- Demonstrate ability to properly complete Bill of Ladings.
- Demonstrate ability to operate a forklift (Push/Pull).
- Demonstrate ability to operate a pallet jack.
- Demonstrate ability to complete an inspection of all workplace transport vehicles and hand trucks for the area.
- Demonstrate ability to complete Kleanz checklists.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling equipment within close tolerances and mechanical problem-solving on process & packaging equipment.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on Process & Packaging Equipment with minimal guidance.
- Support Operations in equipment setup, changeover, and training of operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities.
- Document Work Orders (WO) using Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance).
- Effectively communicate with Operators, Peers, Supervisors, and all levels of management daily.
- Provide enthusiastic support where needed and complete other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
- Demonstrate Engagement in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Theory and Concepts through participation in Pillar Teams, training fellow Technicians/Operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities to include conducting Breakdown Analysis (BDA’s).
- Understand and adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures, Confined Space Procedures, and all other Plant Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements related to supporting machinery uptime in Shipping.
- Able to assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting.
- Able to maintain accurate records of quality control checks, production numbers or waste performance. Able to operate a computer and utilize the basic standard desktop systems (LSS, PSL, MIS, SQCIS, etc.).
- Understands principles of inventory control.
- Has knowledge of the plant's products and goals.
- Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions.

Training & Onboarding:
- To ensure the efficiency and safety of our associates and the product, all successful candidates must pass a technical assessment that will be administered by the Technical Training team in Waco. Successful candidates will also go through a 20-week training program administered by Waco.
