POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Counselor coordinates the financial aspects of the patient’s services, including pre- admission, discharge, and post service. Acts as a financial advisor and assists patients to identify and seek alternative financial resources, establish contracts or obtain payment for services rendered. Investigates, documents, and tracks patient/guarantor concerns or complaints working with departments, administration to provide the utmost patient satisfaction.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge:
- A minimum of one year of related work experience in a hospital business office strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of ICD.9, CPT & HCPCS coding preferred.
- Previous PC, insurance billing software and collections in a caregiver setting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of workers compensation, CHDP, CMSP, Medi-Cal, MEDICARE, HMO, capitation, PACT, BCDEP and COBRA preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state and third-party billing regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology strongly preferred.
Skills:
- Must have outstanding customer service skills and superior communication abilities in order to assist customer both effectively and tactfully
- Data entry and 10-key skill required
- Ability to organize/prioritize workload is required
