Department: Hospital Patient Billing Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Type: Minimum Pay Range $21.89 - $26.61 Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Financial Counselor coordinates the financial aspects of the patient’s services, including pre- admission, discharge, and post service. Acts as a financial advisor and assists patients to identify and seek alternative financial resources, establish contracts or obtain payment for services rendered. Investigates, documents, and tracks patient/guarantor concerns or complaints working with departments, administration to provide the utmost patient satisfaction. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge: A minimum of one year of related work experience in a hospital business office strongly preferred. Working knowledge of ICD.9, CPT & HCPCS coding preferred. Previous PC, insurance billing software and collections in a caregiver setting experience preferred. Working knowledge of workers compensation, CHDP, CMSP, Medi-Cal, MEDICARE, HMO, capitation, PACT, BCDEP and COBRA preferred. Knowledge of federal, state and third-party billing regulations preferred. Knowledge of Medical Terminology strongly preferred.
