Position: Workplace Readiness Specialist

Part-Time: 5 hours per day, 20 hours per week, 188 days

Start date: August 22, 2025

 

Maryville High School is seeking a qualified applicant to join our special education transition to work team.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage and supervise groups of students effectively
  • Reliable, responsible, and attentive to detail
  • Familiarity with school rules, policies, and student management techniques is an asset

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Assist students in both individual and group activities in completing career interest inventories and in-depth Career Exploration activities to determine employment opportunities.
  • Work with high school students to improve their skills in seeking, preparing for, and maintaining competitive, integrated employment in both group and individual settings to increase and enhance skill development.
  • Identify strengths and deficiencies that each student is experiencing in the areas of professional work behavior, communication, teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking and develop ways to help the student enhance their strengths and correct the deficiencies.
  • Prepare students for Work Based Learning and communicate any reported/observed needs to the Transition Case Manager. 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and represent both Vocational Rehabilitation and the Local Education Agency in a positive manner at all times.
  • Transport students and supervise students at approved MHS job sites. 
  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
