Responsible for supervising overall plant manufacturing operations to meet the production schedule with quality products on a timely basis in a cost efficient and safe manner. By effectively managing the production supervisors, assures production objectives are met within cost, quality and safety standards. Responsible for employment decisions, reviews and overall development of department leaders. Budgetary responsibility for all manufacturing operations.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meets production and shipping schedules.
- Supervises/mentors departmental Team Leaders on behavior relevant to MBC values, policies, procedures and performance standards.
- Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Monitors production to assure efficiencies are maintained.
- Manages departments such that budget requirements are met.
- Complies with and enforces company safety programs and policies.
- Communicates with the Engineering Department regarding maintenance methods and Quality Assurance concerns.
- Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
- Suggests new manufacturing methods to achieve maximum productivity in a continuous process improvement/lean manufacturing environment.
- Assures production and job time records are accurate and complete.
- Performs miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the company.
- Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to perform those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5 years of supervisory experience
Education:
- BS degree in manufacturing/operations management preferred.
Additional Information
Work Environment:
- Office environment with frequent environmental exposure to low-grade radiation from computer monitors
- Manufacturing environment, with frequent exposure to wood dusts, and cabinet-making related materials.
- Wearing of Personal Protection Equipment required when on manufacturing floor: eye and ear protection.
