Our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team! The Assistant Controller will be responsible for preparing and reporting financial performance results to meet internal and external financial reporting requirements, field inquiries and prepare periodic presentations. The Assistant Controller will be part of a team that oversee the financial processing, reconciling, and reporting of Mastronardi owned and partnered greenhouses.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete oversight of Farm general ledger, collaborating with shared service departments as needed to ensure proper accounting treatment of all entries.
- Prepare and review month end financial processing for Mastronardi Produce owned and partnered greenhouses, including reconciliation of accounts, preparation of supporting schedules, accrual analysis resulting in adjusting entries, variance and ratio analysis and financial statement review.
- Preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements, including multiple currency reporting.
- Present results to Farm executive and operation team monthly.
- Review of expenses to identify potential cost saving opportunities for the greenhouses, including collaboration with the operation team on executing cost saving measures.
- Prepare short and long-term trend reports, including working capital, capital spending and profitability and communicate concisely to identify the current trends and potential future impacts on the greenhouses.
- Have a vital role in the preparation of the annual budgeting process, including pre-budget analysis and research.
- Participate in the annual external audit, tax preparation and be involved with periodic regulatory requests.
Education/Background Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Strong analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills including performing analysis, identifying root causes of variances and reporting results concisely are required.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with executive-level management.
- Experience with financial modelling including scenario, sensitivity and ratio analysis.
- Previous experience at an assistant controller level or relevant experience is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Navision preferred.
- Experience with Hyperion consolidation reporting software preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment.
- May periodically travel to visit company greenhouses in USA and Canada.
