PURPOSE
This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data entry into the computer, and to provide a wide variety of support within the Finance and Accounting Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
1. Responsible for a variety of data entry tasks.
2. Handles daily contact with customers and vendors.
3. Provides clerical support, including copying, scanning, filing, etc.
4. Operates all office machines.
5. Provides back up to the Accounts Payable Specialist position.
6. Assists others in the department as needed with general accounting support.
7. Promotes a safety culture in which safety is a value. This culture is based on joint and individual engagement, ownership, and accountability regarding job safety and responsibility to perform work safely and adhere to safe work practices.
8. Performs the essential functions of the position in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualified candidates are required to have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of directly related work experience in general office administration.
Relevant post-secondary education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
Preference may be given to those candidates with:
- College or vocational training in accounting and/or business courses
- Experience in data entry and accounting services, and/or
- Experience in utility accounting

- Minor amount of standing, lifting/carrying up to fifteen pounds, stair climbing, ladder climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, turning/twisting, foot-hand-eye coordination, and depth perception.

This position primarily works in an office setting.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This position is classified as a non-exempt, represented position, and is eligible for overtime compensation based on both Federal and State of Alaska laws. All Association employees are expected to work widely varying amounts of either (1) unscheduled overtime such as during power restoration activities; or, (2) scheduled overtime required to accomplish special projects.
