What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ice Arena Operations Assistant position at Matanuska-Susitna Borough?
This position is responsible for assisting in the operations of the ice arena.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.
J1 - DOE
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems. Including but not limited to: Experience working with ice arena equipment (Zambonis, edgers, and CO2 based refrigeration equipment).
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer employment physical.
Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.
- Assists the Ice Arena Manager with the day-to-day operations of the arena.
- Opens and closes facility as assigned; secures facility at end of day.
- Reconciles cash register receipts.
- Promotes programs and services to the general public.
- Promotes, plans, and assists the public in the areas of scheduling and registering for adult hockey leagues.
- Repairs and maintains mechanical equipment.
- Maintains and repairs ice surface.
- Repairs and maintains facility.
- Cleans restrooms and locker rooms.
- Sharpens skate blades.
- Participates in snow removal operations.
- Maintains arena grounds.
- Performs related duties.
