Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team. This role is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has excellent data entry skills, works well with deadlines, and can maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for all employees on a regular schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly)
- Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll input for accuracy
- Calculate wages, deductions, garnishments, and adjustments as needed
- Maintain and update employee payroll information in the system
- Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting purposes
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll policies
- Assist with preparation of year-end forms such as W-2s and 1099s
- Ensure payroll procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Provide administrative support to the HR and accounting teams as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or coursework in accounting/finance preferred
- 1 year of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience
- Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office (Excel required)
- Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience processing payroll for multiple states
- Knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations
