POSITION SUMMARY
Matthews International is currently hiring for a Tool and Die Maker position to join our Production Facility in the Richmond, Indiana area. The Senior Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance on equipment in our Stamping Facility. This Tool and Die Maker analyzes specifications, inspects materials, fits parts and assembles rotary dies using machine tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, machinists’ hand tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates assigned equipment safely in accordance with company and OSHA safety programs and rules.
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product and determines materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
- Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.
- Smooths flat and contoured surfaces and power grinders and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms.
- Assists with verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Connects wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- May assist with development of specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
- Assists with die set up according to production schedule.
- Builds and modifies equipment for production and product development.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 years progressive experience as a tool & die maker; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
- Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
