Overview
As an employee/owner at MEC, you will monitor payments and expenditures, prepare invoices and receivable statements, answering customer inquiries, and perform basic recordkeeping. Additionally, this role will be responsible for other ad hoc tasks and projects to develop, interpret, and implement financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning, internal controls and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data
- Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
- Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, customer service departments, and from customers;
- Resolve valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries.
- Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions by following pending deductions procedures.
- Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, and credit line.
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Analyzes financial information to determine present and future financial performance.
- Identifies trends and recommends improvements accordingly.
- Establishes databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts.
- Performs ad hoc tasks to support the finance function as directed by the Accounting Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college oruniversity; and zero to two years related experience and/or training.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with external and internal customers.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, etc.
- Must have good organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines with appropriate attention to detail in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment.
