General Responsibilities
Provides clinical occupational therapy for Melmark individuals.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8a-4:30p (year-round)
Starting Salary: $70,720.00 ( ) based on years of experience
Essential Duties
- Evaluates the client’s ability and formulates the individual’s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observations, checklists, histories, and interviews.
- Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet the individual needs and to help the client function as independently as possible.
- Records progress of each individual receiving occupational therapy on charts. Evaluates information and makes appropriate recommendation for continued, modified and revised occupational therapy treatment.
- Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate client participation and occupational performance.
- Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on client needs and evaluation results.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offers recommendations, and develops plans and interventions to achieve IEP, IPP, and ISP goals.
- Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state and federal guidelines, and school policy.
- Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of client’s occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning and service delivery.
- Teaches, monitors and collaborates with treatment staff to increase understanding of the client’s occupational performance.
- Provides assistance to individuals and staff on the use, care and maintenance of adaptive equipment. Educates Melmark staff on adaptive equipment and problem solves when necessary.
- Replaces and/or repairs damaged equipment by exploring and providing resources for obtaining equipment.
- Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice and to meet PA licensure requirements.
- Provides continuing education and in-service for treatment staff. Provides fieldwork education and supervision for occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students.
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Certifications/Licensure: Current Pennsylvania license for occupational therapy and NBCOT registration. A valid U.S. state driver’s license with a minimum of two years driving experience and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid and Crisis Intervention. Must be capable of obtaining approved Melmark driver status.
Skill(s): Skills in clinical assessment and evaluation as needed to accurately diagnose the occupational therapy needs of Melmark individuals. Ability to follow procedures and programs relevant to teaching and programming strategies.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years occupational therapy experience preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in related field preferred.
