General Responsibilities
The recreational therapist is responsible for the planning, organization, coordination and implementation of a comprehensive program of therapeutic and recreational activities, and for contributing to the individual plan of care for each individual diagnosed with disabilities. Assesses, plans care for and provides therapeutic recreation services to participants. Conducts initial assessments and periodic reassessments, develops plan of care for participants and conducts therapeutic recreation activities.
Starting Rate: $22/hour
Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 11:30am-8:00pm (flexible as needed)
Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: Bachelors degree in recreational therapy, psychology or a related degree.
Certifications/Licensure: U.S. state valid driver’s license and minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Successful completion of employer provided certification in, CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention is required. Lifesaving/Lifeguarding Certification and CPR for Professional Rescue Certification required within 90 days of hire. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred. Pesticide Applicator License preferred. Pool Operators License preferred. Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) certification required.
Skill(s): Strong swimming skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills are an asset.
Experience: A minimum of one year experience in related field preferred; possesses a minimum of two years driving experience holding a US drivers license.
