WORK SCHEDULE FOR A PREVENTION EDUCATOR
These positions typically work normal business hours, 8:30am - 4:30pm and may require after hours or weekends.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PREVENTION EDUCATOR
- Coordinates and provides consultation for programs regarding direct educational services to schools, community organizations, agencies, etc. as directed.
- Develops and implements programs and educational literature on issues related to chemical abuse/dependency, mental health and other prevention topics.
- Participates in contracted programs as designated.
- Participates in prevention planning, evaluation and customer service networking within Youngstown State University, and with the prevention team.
- Develops and implements student support and programming in collaboration with Youngstown State University as well as with Meridian's prevention team.
- Assists in planning and implementing of curriculum, events and other programming.
- Provides professional presentations at Youngstown State University, established schools, community organizations, agencies, etc.
- Attends and participates in workshops and trainings as designated by leadership.
- Participates in peer prevention programming within our schools and community.
- Keeps accurate statistics regarding prevention activities
- Screens educational materials to determine if resources are viable of agency use.
- Participates in staff development program according to Agency policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PREVENTION EDUCATOR
Associates or BA/BS in Social Sciences or equivalent experience; OCPS I certification preferred, OCPS eligibility required. Must register with the Ohio Credentialing Board for Prevention certification within ninety (90) days. Public speaking experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel preferred.
