The Student Advocacy and Accountability Assistant provides general services and assistance to the daily operations of the office, including greeting and checking students in for appointments, answering the phones, taking messages, and answering general questions. Provides administrative/secretarial support to staff in the department.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Supports the daily operations of the Student Advocacy and Accountability department by providing directions and information and assisting students, faculty and staff and other campus visitors, by answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, taking messages, and answering questions.
2. Tactfully and confidentially handles and/or refers sensitive situations, e.g., student complaints, grade appeals, etc., as needed to counselors and management.
3. Monitors and creates purchase requisitions. Orders office supplies for Student Advocacy and Accountability staff. Responsible for purchases made with a purchasing card and reconciliation of monthly statements.
4. Troubleshoots the copy machine; refilling with paper, toner and staples. Stores and distributes office supplies.
5. Assists with updating the Student Advocacy and Accountability webpages.
6. Serves as a technical resource and provides assistance with computer software and hardware. Troubleshoots office equipment, e.g., copier, fax, test scanner and telephone system, and scans computer images.
7. Maintains student files, necessary spreadsheets, and databases for the department.
8. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

3. Knowledge of College-supported software and computer systems.
4. Knowledge of purchase card reconciliation.
5. Ability to plan, use time management, organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.
6. Skill in resolving problems and answering questions.
7. Ability to demonstrate a cooperative, professional demeanor, while maintaining confidentiality.
8. Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
10. Ability to use general office equipment including, but not limited to: telephone, computer, copier, scanner, and fax machine.
11. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
12. Skill with simple repairs for office equipment, e.g., copier, fax, etc.
13. Ability to move 10-15 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
