What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Officer position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
This position is a non-civil service position in the Office of Family Safety and works on budget and finance matters as well as helps with the human resources functions and other operational needs for the department. The position works closely with and reports to the Department Head.

- Metro budget preparation, submission and oversight
- Grant budget preparation, submission, and oversight
- Donations collection, management and oversight
- Payroll
- Invoicing
- Purchasing

- Serves as Liaison to –
- Metro Finance Department
- Metro ITS and equipment installations
- General Services
- Metro Council on all grant matters
- Metro Clerk
- Other Metro Department leaders also engaged in the budgeting, finance and personnel functions.
- Prepare all monthly statistical and financial reports and analysis
- Grant writing and contract management
- Accounting and audit management
- Maintains open, positive working relationships with
- Onboarding new employees and FSC/JCAC occupants
- Operational management of FSC and JCAC facilities
- Keep department informed on current policies and upcoming changes related to budget and finance and HR matters.
- Prepares written and oral reports for department, mayor’s office, and Metropolitan Council as needed.
- Keeps leadership informed and advises management on finance issues or concerns.
- Coordinates with the Department Head in the development of the Department's annual budget and monitor on a monthly basis.
