The REHS Chief of Staff (Administrative Associate II/S) provides strategic support to the Assistant Vice President of Residence Education and Housing Services and departmental leadership. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the Assistant Vice President in advancing strategic priorities and department projects. This position will directly supervise the central administrative support team and coordinate work to meet the needs of the department and the multiple, diverse communities that it serves. This position will frequently meet and collaborate with other department and divisional leaders in executing departmental priorities, problem solving, and addressing conflicts and barriers through a culturally informed approach. This position will also support the management and organization of departmental budgets, records, agreements, assessment, and procedures.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES – RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administrative duties including project management, monitoring department in realizing strategic priorities, supervision of central administrative support team including the coordination of work, record keeping and management of process, procedures and agreements. Coordinates contracts and purchasing requests. Plans and manages budget processes in coordination with the Assistant Vice President.
- Leads special projects from inception to completion to drive strategic goals; helps to manage other strategic goals that the AVP has designated to other leaders.
- Serve on various divisional and university committees and teams. Directs the preparation of University and divisional reports and documents.
- Oversight of assessment activities for the department in coordination with divisional assessment office to ensure process improvement and excellence. Helps to develop and evaluate relevant KPIs and metrics to measure success.
- Serves as a member of senior management in order to participate in the development of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for Residence Education and Housing Services.
- Capacity to problem solve and coach Residence Education and Housing Services team members to illicit their success and performance. Mediation of team conflicts and assisting with organizational barriers for success.
- Supervises administrative support team.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or field related to employing unit; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices, developing research projects, funding and grant practices and/or experience in a field related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Management or field related to employing unit; five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project management, conflict mediation, organizational development, supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
