Middlesex College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Institutional Research Specialist with experience in EAB Navigate to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting data-informed initiatives for improving student success, equity and inclusion including retention and graduation of students.
As a part of the mission, the Institutional Research Specialist will manage the College’s new student success platform, EAB Navigate, to ensure data is collected and maintained systematically for effective decision-making across the institution. The Analyst will work with student service and academic affairs units to determine their data needs, including the creation of campus-wide dashboards for staff to obtain data as they need it, provide ad hoc data analyses, and actively participate in campus-wide reporting communities and data governance groups. At the conclusion of tasks specific to the Title V project, the Institutional Research Specialist will report to the Dean of Institutional Research and Assessment.
Principal Responsibilities
Duration: Until 9/30/2028
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends.
RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible
Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
This is a specially funded position, dependent for its existence upon federal, State, or other non-College operating funds, and is not funded pursuant to the regular College budget. Continued employment is always contingent upon satisfactory performance and College needs. Grant funded positions are also contingent upon continued funding. This appointment is for the specified period only. Employment beyond the expiration date of the grant is subject to appropriate provisions of existing collectively bargained agreements in effect at the time for employees covered by those agreements.

Principal Responsibilities
- Manages and maintains data integrity within the student success platform. Extracts, transforms, and loads (ETL) data from student success platform and other data sources for analysis purposes.
- Conducts data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies related to student success, student enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and other key performance indicators.
- Develops data displays that clearly communicate complex analyses to multiple audiences, including executive, senior staff, program staff, and program consultants, etc.
- Collaborates with IT and institutional research teams to ensure seamless integration of EAB Navigate data with other institutional data sources.
- Develops a College-wide training plan and deliver faculty and staff training in data literacy, data analytics, and how to use the new data tools recasting functions to focus on student success, persistence, retention, equity, inclusion and completion.
- Builds structures, tools and routines to institutionalize a data-informed culture of student success. Develops and implements strategies to enhance data accuracy and completeness.
- Generates regular and ad-hoc reports to provide insights into student behavior and performance.
- Collaborates with institutional stakeholders on data and technical needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree
- Professional research experience in an office of Institutional Research, Advising, Student Success, or Enrollment Management at a college or university
- Proven experience working with EAB Navigate
- Experience creating data visualizations using Tableau
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including SAS.
- Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
