What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Groundman position at MidSouth Electric Co-op?
Apprentice Lineman Qualifications:
- Must have the desire to thoroughly learn and understand the hazards that exist, including falls, electric shock, electric flash, falling objects and traffic. You must have the ability to apply all safety knowledge to your everyday tasks and responsibilities. This includes attending all mandatory safety meetings, the use of all protection equipment, safety equipment, and first aid.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high-energy, fast paced environment and adapt to constantly changing priorities and situations.
- Must be capable of climbing utility poles with proper training and learn the layout and characteristics of distribution and transmission lines in the area assigned.
- Ability to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints as related to transmission and distribution construction and maintenance.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and be available for on-call hours.
- Must be able to obtain a Class A CDL within the first 6 months of employment, if you currently possess a Class C drivers license.
- Ability to work and communicate well in a team-oriented environment.
