Millerbernd Manufacturing in Winsted, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Engineering team.
In this role you would be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing is carried out (and the end product is produced) in the most time-efficient and cost-effective way while still maintaining overall product quality.
What would I be doing in this role?
- Responds to production problems and escalations where repeat failures or large business impacts are occurring
- Takes on initiatives to solve challenges without a lot of direction
- Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and workforce utilization in assigned area
- Determines the parts, equipment, and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications through moderate to advanced technical abilities
- Tends to works on projects with complexity.
- Leads projects impacting singular or multiple teams. Advanced planning required for task sequencing.
- Provides direction to operators, leads and supervisors in response to problems and escalations
- Performs moderate to advanced engineering calculations
- Supports advanced Continuous Improvement (CI) work
- Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
What skills do I need to do this role?
- Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3 years of experience, or equivalent, and 8 or more years of experience in a manufacturing setting. Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered.
- Knows and applies moderate to advanced concepts and techniques of a manufacturing engineer
- Knows and applies moderate to advanced DMAIC problem solving methodology and Lean concepts.
- Knows and applies tools to perform Root Cause Corrective Action analysis.
- Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications
- Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email
- Read and interpret customer specifications and industry standards
- Writes internal manufacturing routings
- Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions
- Effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills, in English
- Work with others as part of a high-performance team
- Adapt to changing work priorities
