The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for the management of suppliers, analysis, and planning. The manager will oversee a staff of buyers and create a collaborative team environment to effectively manage the supply chain. This position works closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Receiving to meet our materials requirements. The position is a key role in leading the Company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering the price, delivery, and quality targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage a team of buyers of commodities and will function in an active role supporting buying activities. Carry out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements
- Establish relationships with key suppliers, participate inidentifying new suppliers; agree to terms and negotiate supply agreements, including discount structures and volume rebates; which align to the company’s needs.
- Design a structured exit plan for all items that are no longer stocked or sold, to aggressively dispose of this inventory; Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective action for manufactured product and raw materials.
- Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
- Support direction and strategies regarding supplier demand forecasting, supplier capacity planning, supply base inventory management, supplier replenishment and procurement transactions.
- Monitor and manage warehouse capacities and advise on existing and future space requirements and inventory supply strategies and efficiencies that will maximize merchandise profitability.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure delivery capability and improve supply chain capabilities like lead times and working capital
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS * Minimum of 5 years purchasing management experience
- CPPM Certified Preferred
- Minimum of 3 years hands-on staff management and development experience
- Minimum of 2 years lean manufacturing / 5S experience
- Prior experience in contract negotiation and administration
- Strong computer skills - business application, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, an advanced ERP system
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain with an emphasis in Purchasing/Procurement, Engineering or Business; associate degree and related study and/or commensurate job experience may be considered.
