What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineering Manager position at Milwaukee Electronics?
Plans, directs, and coordinates the documentation of manufacturing processes along with Test Procedures for production of electronic assemblies by performing the following duties either in person or by directing Test and Manufacturing Engineer along with Facility Maintenance. This position supports the Milwaukee facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Has the authority and responsibility for managing the assembly processes to ensure that the systems and industry certifications are developed, implemented and maintained.
Develops process standards and makes recommendations to management, engineers and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and process improvements to facilitate production processes with a thorough understanding of surface mounted electronic assemblies and all the processes involved in their manufacturing.
Provide technical support to production, maintenance and sales departments for new business opportunities and to support the transition of new products into production from NPI.
Conduct machine and test fixture operator training for new equipment or process modifications.
Works closely with Operations and Quality to ensure new equipment qualifications: IQ, OQ, PQ are completed prior to acceptance from the manufacturer and prior to production release.
Reviews all work instructions and documents within their group to ensure that processes are consistent with Milwaukee Electronics management objectives, procedures and the Quality System.
Works with department managers to implement ley business initiatives and complete daily business functions.
Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing equipment, methods, processes and materials.
Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Prioritizes projects, establishes timeframes and provides project cost estimates for review and approval.
Ensures all machines have scheduled maintenance performed and that machines are repaired as quickly as possible to minimize downtimes and loss of production.
As required, supports Facilities to ensure all building, equipment and grounds are maintained and that regularly scheduled maintenance is performed.
Maintains process equipment and coordinated the electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic service requirements.
Identify, design, manufacture and install customized fixtures for production and material handling.
Creates department's yearly strategic plan and budget.
Initiates and promotes continuous improvement principle of Lean Manufacturing throughout the organization to improve safety and quality, reduce costs and increase productivity.
Must be adaptive and supportive of change and possess good communication skills.
Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a variety of manufacturing engineers and maintenance-related roles. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these groups. Carries out these duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, assessing performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline and 5 years related engineering managerial experience; or 8 - 10 years related managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiar with the concepts, practices and procedures for manufacturing systems. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
