Greenhouse Laborer Position
Friends, It is that time of year again! Spring is right around the corner! Which means everything is full speed ahead at Mini Earth Greenhouses! We are currently seeking motivated and hardworking individuals for seasonal greenhouse laborer positions. This position is physically demanding and very hands on, where tasks are primarily preformed outdoors and in the elements. However it is a very rewarding job where you see all of your hard work payoff by producing beautiful, healthy, plants that our customers love and admire.

Servicing Lake County, North Chicago, and Southern Wisconsin. We are a public greenhouse that has been locally owned and operated since 1983! Built on simple practices, we aim to provide our customers great quality plants at amazing prices. Mini Earth Greenhouses is a part of a unique group in horticulture, in the fact that we are both the grower and retailer of the plants we produce! Setting us apart from many big box stores and large retailers who import pre-finished plants. As a company we focus heavily on producing strong healthy plants for our customers every year from Spring to Fall and pride ourselves in offering some of the most unique plants in the area!
Job Summary:
Greenhouse Laborers are expected to perform tasks and duties associated with the production of finished plants and produce for our retail setting. These duties are focused strongly around soil room operations. They are expected to work with and around heavy machinery, in challenging environmental conditions, and physically demanding tasks. Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and timely fashion in order to ensure smooth operations within production. They may also be expected to assist in other departments if needed.
Duties Would Include (subject to change):
-Soil Room Operations:
-Working with or around soil hopper machine
-Maintenance of soil room (i.e. Cleaning, Organizing, and Stocking)
-Moving of soil bags from pallets to soil hopper
-Moving and stocking plants around the property
-Attaching hooks to hanging basket pots
-Composting related tasks
-Preparation of planting areas
Qualifications and Skills Required:
-Reliable
-Ability to lift, push, & pull at least 50lbs repetitively
-Tolerance of exposure to the elements (I.e. Sun, Heat, and Humidity)
-Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time
-Valid Drivers License
-Team player
-Effective time management skills
-Strong communication skills
Qualifications and Skills Preferred:
-Flexible availability
-Ability to work individually in solitary for periods of time
-Plant Identification Skills
-Growing/Gardening experience
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
