Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Wellness Center Operations assists with all aspects of the Minot State Wellness Center services. This position plays a key administrative and supervisory role, providing oversight of all student employees, with an emphasis on staff leadership, performance management, and operational accountability. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, management, evaluation, and development of Wellness Center student staff; enforcement of departmental and university policies and standards; handling patron conflict resolution; and coordination of space for programs, user groups, and events. This position will plan, schedule, execute, and evaluate staff training each semester, as well as periodic student staff meetings. Maintains professional relationships with other departments on campus via meetings and committees.

Responsibilities:
1. Create, facilitate, and promote the fitness and wellness classes and programs that are offered each semester
2. Develop opportunities to streamline all Wellness Center processes and procedures
3. Seek new ways to improve, develop, and expand fitness and wellness programs and activities
4. Maintain records of memberships, program participation, and all necessary paperwork, forms, and contracts of the Wellness Center
5. Oversee and monitor the student staff payroll system
6. Assist in the process of ordering equipment for the Wellness Center
7. Manage the job duties and schedules of the Minot State student practicum experience
8. Participate on University committees and other departments to promote fitness and wellness programs
9. Collaborate with all Wellness Center and Student Affairs employees to create a welcoming environment for all students and users of the Wellness Center
10. Responsible to the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating of Wellness Center student employees
11. Provide ongoing feedback and recommendations for program enhancement
12. Oversee and monitor the following recreation programs while developing, reviewing, and enforcing policies and procedures of these programs also: climbing wall, intramural sports, bike share, and outdoor recreation.
13. Develop, implement, and supervise a wide variety of quality indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities for students throughout the academic year.
14. Participate in the development and implementation of Club Sports.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
3. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in a diverse workplace
4. Have good customer service skills
5. Ability to collaborate and build relationships with students, faculty, and staff
6. Ability to work some evenings and weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Corporate Fitness and Wellness Management, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field
2. Experience working within a collegiate intramural program or similar setting
3. Obtained certifications relating to the fitness, wellness, and recreation industry
4. Experience leading, mentoring, and supervising staff
5. Ability to lead outdoor recreation experiences with students, faculty, and staff
6. Management or work experience in an indoor rock climbing facility
7. The ability to lead group exercise classes and/or coach individual and group personal training
