Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Islands' only full service, casual resort is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Warehouse Manager. This full time/seasonal position is located on Mackinac Island and offers competitive pay, housing, other perks.
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary role of the Purchasing Manager is to analyze needs of purchasing, receiving, and storing of all food and beverage for the hotel to ensure quality products are consistently maintained and waste is minimized. This individual will manage the day-to-day operations of the Purchasing Department, including the Purchasing Supervisor and Purchasing Clerks to ensure that requisitions are responded to promptly, and will direct his/her team by performing a variety of activates to ensure a consistently clean, orderly and attractive environment within all storerooms. As a part of the Mission Point Leadership Team, this individual will be accountable for requisition fulfillments, labor hours & dollars, as well as overall staff satisfaction.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Coordinate and organize the administrative functions in all areas of the Purchasing Department.
- Work with Financial Management Team to ensure that the budget is reasonable and attainable
- Lead special projects as developed and approved.
- Supervise, provide advice, support, guidance, and direction to staff; monitor the performance of staff on an ongoing basis, conduct annual performance reviews, discipline and terminate staff as required.
- Analyze needs of the resort and maintain par levels.
- Analyze prices and quality of supplier’s good to control food and beverage costs while ensuring the right quality and quantity of food is maintained at all times.
- Receive and inspect the food and beverage and resulting invoices to ensure food quality is up to hotel specifications and the hotel is being appropriately charged.
- Direct the labeling, dating, storage and rotation of all food to avoid spoilage and control waste while maintaining health/ sanitation and safety standards and regulations.
- Direct the storage and security of all beverage and food to avoid loss.
- Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and hotel standards are being upheld.
- Monitor inventories and associated costs through the completion of logs, reviewing and processing of invoices and preparation of worksheets.
- Responsible for or assisting in month end inventory
- Administer online purchasing systems
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies
- Assist during peak business periods and be available to cover sick shifts and meal periods.
- Ensure correct staffing levels during peak and low occupancies.
- Ensure controls of expenditures are kept within budget.
- Responsible for negotiating and coordinating with vendors.
- Ensure uniforms and all relevant operating equipment is controlled and sufficient for hotel needs.
- Ensure all staff members are trained per MPR standards.
- Participating in all regular and ad hoc operational meetings and in the formulation of a strategic business plan.
- Improve problem areas and assist in implementing corrective measures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
