Job Description
This position is responsible for installation, maintenance, and replacement and repair of electrical systems and equipment across campus facilities. Perform skilled electrical maintenance and repair work involving utility systems, lighting systems and street, sidewalk and parking lot lights. Repair and replace defective or worn electrical parts, motors, generators, light fixtures, pumps, controllers, switches, plugs, lighting ballast, and related equipment as needed. Inspect electrical equipment and lighting; test, locate and repair damaged electrical circuitry. Maintain records of work performed, materials used, and associated costs. Repair and install underground electrical conduit systems. Perform related duties as assigned. Assist other departments as needed such as help with HVAC systems installation and other necessary equipment. Assist with other PA systems, set up and monitoring for university events as needed
Required Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF: 1) Methods, practices, equipment and tools used in the repair of electrical and mechanical devices. 2) Principles and practices of the repair of streetlights. 3) Principles and procedures of record keeping. 4) Basic arithmetic. 5) Safe work practices. ABILITY TO: 1) Repair and replace electrical systems and equipment. 2) Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches and drawings. 3) Maintain work records. 4) Work independently in absence of supervision. 5) Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 6) Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. OTHER REQUIREMENTS : Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by specialized training in electrical and/or electronic technology and four years of journey level experience in the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, systems and components. Must have great organizational and time management skills and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to utilize Microsoft office. Work requires valid MS driver’s license.
