What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visiting Scholar - Materials Research Center position at Missouri University of Science and Technology?

The Materials Research Center (MRC) at the Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a 12-month non-tenure track Visiting Scholar to begin May 1, 2022. The visiting scholar will conduct research on ultra-high temperature ceramics including synthesis of boride ceramics, densification by hot pressing or spark plasma sintering, and characterization such as x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Experience with boride ceramics such as zirconium diboride is a plus. The visiting scholar is expected to draft manuscripts for publication in international technical journals and presentations for conferences.

Minimum Qualifications


A Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or a closely related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications


A Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Experience with boride ceramics such as zirconium diboride is a plus.
