The Montana Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Trustees is seeking a strategic and politically savvy leader to serve as President & CEO. This individual will advocate for Montana’s healthcare providers, influence policy, and strengthen bipartisan relationships to enhance healthcare access, affordability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MHA’s policy advocacy, member services, education, and public outreach.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with legislators, policymakers, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Oversee financial management, compliance, and strategic initiatives across MHA’s nonprofit and for-profit entities.
- Manage federal grant programs and drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise and develop a high-performing team while fostering collaboration.
- Serve as the public face of MHA, requiring frequent in-state travel and occasional national travel.
- Executive leadership experience in healthcare, policy, or association management.
- Strong background in advocacy, public policy, and legislative engagement.
- Expertise in federal grant management and financial oversight.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and work collaboratively with a Board of Trustees.
- Deep understanding of Montana’s political and healthcare landscape.
Experience, Skills, and Education
- Executive Leadership: 5-7 years of executive leadership experience, preferably within a trade association, healthcare organization, or similar setting.
- Team Development and Supervision: Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high-performing team, with significant experience in supervision of diverse teams, including coaching, performance management, and fostering collaboration within an organization.
- Policy and Advocacy Expertise: Deep experience in advocacy, public policy development, and lobbying at state and federal levels, with a demonstrated ability to build bipartisan relationships.
- Grant Management: Proven experience in managing federal grants, with a strong focus on aligning grant-funded programs to MHA’s quality improvement and strategic initiatives.
- Board Collaboration: Successful experience reporting to, collaborating with, and supporting a Board of Directors to align organizational strategies and policies.
- Budget and Resource Management: Skilled in developing and managing complex organizational budgets with an emphasis on maximizing limited resources.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, political science, public policy, or public health required; Master’s degree preferred.
