After School Director

Position Summary:

The After-School Director is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and supervision of the afterschool program. This role requires a strong commitment to providing safe, engaging, and educational experiences for children. Typical hours are 2:00PM - 5:30PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Development and Implementation:
• Develop and implement comprehensive afterschool programs that align with educational standards and community needs.
• Create engaging activities and curriculum that promote learning, social development, and physical well-being.
• Ensure program compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
• Staff Management:
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise afterschool staff.
• Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.
• Evaluate staff performance and address any issues promptly.
• Parent and Community Relations:
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians.
• Communicate effectively about program activities, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with community partners to enhance program offerings and resources.
• Budget Management:
• Develop and manage the program budget.
• Ensure responsible use of funds and adherence to financial guidelines.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Implement and maintain safety protocols and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and appropriate manner.

Qualifications:

• High School or GED graduate.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in afterschool or childcare programs.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children of various ages and backgrounds.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
• Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
• Proficiency in using technology for program management and communication.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily work in an afterschool setting, which may include schools, community centers, or other facilities.
• Irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and often noisy environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week

• After school
• Monday to Friday
