What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commodity Manager position at Motus Integrated Technologies?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Closely manage all aspects of the material commodities assigned via strategic supplier management:
- Identify the current supply base and all additional potential suppliers for each commodity.
- Define preferred / strategic suppliers based on aligned set of criteria
- Communicate strategy to cross-functional stakeholders
- Drive cost reduction opportunities via strategic sourcing, negotiation and projects
- Source at or below program cost targets with exceptional quality
- Forecast spend, savings, indexing and other cost measurables as conditions change
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with responsible scope of buy – ensure supply is protected
- Execution of previously activated cost savings initiatives in order to meet savings targets
- Develop new cost savings initiatives and work cross-functionally to drive closure
- Lead supplier negotiations, including contract management and development agreements
- Generate sub-commodity strategies supporting product plans, and aligned to key stakeholders
- Identify and develop new suppliers that fit the strategy and required capabilities
- Obtaining Motus Sourcing Board approval for all new sourcing actions
- Utilize supplier scorecards to communicate performance versus expectations on a monthly basis
- Forecast materials market movements and develop mitigation plans to smooth volatility
- Ensure that price changes aligned to contracts, and raw material index are accurate and timely
- Supporting commodity specific data preparation and analysis for Launch Focus Room, Bi-weekly Mgt
updates, and monthly Business Operating System Reviews - Analyze and intelligently execute tradeoffs between unit prices and working capital / inventory
- Manage ERP Administration (Purchase Orders, Reports, etc)
- Support Engineering’s material selection process for new products
- Support Launch Team activities
- Support Business Development activities
- Monitor and manage Directed Suppliers (cost management)
- Lead cross functional ‘ideation’ events that Identify new product and process applications
- Establish “target pricing” (pre-program award)
- Manage key internal stakeholders to achieve alignment on continuous improvement opportunities
- Prepare and present executive communications on an as-needed basis
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, MBA is preferred
- 6-10 years’ experience related to Purchasing, Materials Management or other Supply Chain area
- Automotive industry background
- Outstanding communication, detail oriented, self-driven, professional written skills, and negotiation
skills are essential for success in this position - Understanding of PLEX ERP software a plus
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel – pivot tables, sorting, filtering, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 30% is required
- Local to Michigan or South Carolina preferred; hybrid or remote work negotiable
