Overview
Mount Marty University is pleased to accept applications for a Student Success and Career Development Advisor. This is a full-time, 12-month position and must adhere to the regulations stipulated in the Mount Marty University Handbooks. The Student Success and Career Development Advisor plays a pivotal role in guiding Mount Marty students through their academic and career journeys. This position is responsible for assessing students’ needs, providing personalized advising on academic and career paths, and connecting students with the appropriate support resources on campus. Additionally, this role is responsible for offering guidance on internship and career exploration options, assisting students with job and graduate school application materials, and coordinating with faculty for industry-specific advice. This position will also contribute to the Center for Academic Excellence’s student success programming, participate in new student orientation, campus recruiting events, and Student Affairs Division programming, and serve as the primary resource for MMU’s international student population. This position also maintains Mount Marty University’s international student records and files. They are responsible for full compliance with all aspects of SEVIS and serve as lead PDSO. This includes the tracking and maintenance of student records within SEVIS, and requires specialized knowledge for the understanding and application of federal regulations, academic policies and procedures.
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Support the mission of the Center for Academic Excellence and the Division of Student Affairs through direct student support and development of student-centered programs and initiatives.
  • Provide comprehensive, high-impact academic advising services for a caseload of first-year students.
  • Actively monitor and assess student academic performance and progress to effectively create an outreach plan.
  • Provide individual and group career support and exploration services to Mount Marty students and alumni.
  • Develop and direct programs and services designed to equip students and MMU alumni with necessary job search skills and employment preparation strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver informational presentations as requested; orient students to the Career Center resources and services.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with local community organizations.
  • Verify immigration compliance with SEVIS as a Designated School Official (DSO), issue I-20 forms of eligibility for the F-1 Student Visa, and maintain and update information in SEVIS database accurately.
  • Communicate with incoming and current students regarding F-1 visa requirements, visa applications, travel restrictions, and other visa-related regulations.
Qualifications 
  • Master’s degree in education, psychology, student development, or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of teaching experience, counseling experience, or personal coaching.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
