Summary:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a specially trained member of the Nursing Department who provides assistance to either the RN or LPN in delivery of selected aspects of patient care.

Education Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one of the following:
- Successful completion of an approved Nursing Assistant training program OR equivalent based on established criteria
- Successful completion of an approved Patient Care Technician training program
- Successful completion of Mount Sinai South Nassau Student Nurse Intern Program (300 hours)
- Successful completion of 2 semesters of hospital-based clinical practicum while enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Completion of Support Staff Orientation.
- Must complete in-house orientation program.
Experience And Skills
- Completion of 2 clinicals (with patient in the acute care setting) while enrolled in a Nursing program, if not trained as a Patient Care Technician.
- Technical skills required for patient care.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Basic Computer Skills
