Position Summary
Summary:
The Certified Surgical Technologist is a trained member of the Nursing staff who performs specified Operating Room tasks under the direction of a RN. The Surgical Technologist assists in providing a surgically safe environment for each patient.

Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Graduated from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program OR
- Completed a military surgical technology program or
- Associates Degree
- Must maintain a minimum of 15 education hours per year
Experience And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- Clinical experience and/or skills as relevant to area of practice.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Provides evidence demonstrating employment as a surgical technologist at MSSN for a cumulative period of one year occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015.
License/Certifications
- Certification (C.S.T.) is required after 3 months of employment.
- Certification (TS-C) is the alternative for individuals with verified full time hospital experience as a Surgical Technology practitioner for a cumulative period of one year occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 1, 2015 and meets the NCCT requirements for certification and successful examination.
- Grandfathered by the 2015 law (see experience required above).
