The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office is currently accepting applications for a Legal Assistant 1. The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting offenders accused of committing state and municipal law violations within Multnomah County. The District Attorney's Office is committed to the open and balanced administration of justice; one that honors and respects diversity in all of its forms. These positions are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. If interested, there may be opportunities for hybrid schedule. As a Legal Assistant 1, you will work along side with other administrative staff and must have the ability to organize and prioritize work and accuracy with detail. Our staff work together as a cohesive team under pressure and must be flexible, able and willing to fill in on short notice. This position may require you to resolve issues when a supervisor is not available. The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Your daily essential job responsibilities includes but is not limited to the following: Review case files for accuracy and completeness. Accurately enter felony cases in systems in a timely manner. Run criminal histories. Provide assistance with notifying victims about case information. Investigate and prepare restitution requests. May also be called upon to assist with projects that require resourcefulness, independent judgment, analysis of varied data, and other needed information. Most vacancies in the District Attorney's Office are full-time, however this list may be used to fill part-time, temporary, limited duration and on-call openings. TO QUALIFY: We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills: Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade. Three years of general clerical experience. One year of experience working within a district attorney, county counsel, or relevant legal office. Basic working knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of criminal or judicial system, and some knowledge of legal terminology and legal databases. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): LEDS Certification. You will be required to successfully pass the LEDS certification in order to become LEDS certified. Advanced knowledge of data systems such as RegJIN, LEDS, NCIC, Odyssey, CRIMES and Microsoft Word. Candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check and post offer urine drug screen. During the recruitment process, you will be asked to sign a disclosure statement about the arrests and convictions of immediate family members and close relations pursuant to our policy regarding Outside Associations. Immediate family is defined to include parents, spouse, spouse equivalent, brother, sister, children, grandparents, or any individual where the relationship is close or intimate, or a roommate.
