Porter/Service
A porter transports vehicles in a variety of ways. It may be short transports, such as across a parking lot, or it could be intrastate or interstate. The porter may drive a vehicle or haul it via transport carrier. In addition to physically moving the automobiles, the job also requires identifying the vehicle prior to transport, making damage inspections, ensuring drive-ability or transportability, and in the event of a transport haul, ensuring the vehicle is safely placed on the carrier.
Responsibilities
- Vacuum vehicle, install disposable seat covers, floor mats, and I.D. tags in all the vehicles taken in for service
- Drive vehicles from the service lane to their proper places in the service parking lot
- Maintain the parking lot in a neat and organized manner
- Wash vehicles
- Run any necessary errand required by the service department
- Loading, securing and protecting inventory to ensure safe transportation
- Documenting all vehicle movement on daily route sheets
- Assuring deliveries match up with delivery schedule in a timely manner
