What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Literacy Coach (Elementary) position at Nashua School District?
- Create a literacy environment conducive to effective instruction.
- Work with district administration and principals to determine literacy needs in order to improve students’ reading, writing and communication skills.
- Evaluate literacy needs and collaborate with teachers and administrators to interpret assessment results. Use assessment data to improve instruction.
- Coach teachers in effective instructional strategies.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of district-wide professional development, including New Teacher Orientation.
- Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through an on-going program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and job-embedded activities for self and teaching staff.
- Assumes other special activities and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
- Meets New Hampshire certification requirements for reading specialist
- Masters degree in reading, literacy, or related field preferred
- Minimum of three years of successful K – 12 classroom teaching experience
- Successful experience in facilitating adult learners
- Demonstrated pursuit of continuous learning
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.

SALARY: $44,200-$93,938 Teacher Bargaining Unit salary and benefits - Contractual
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The literacy coach supports the district goal of increasing the academic performance of all students in literacy (reading, writing, and accessing curriculum in all content areas). The literacy coach increases instructional knowledge and skills of teachers in the area of literacy through a variety of reflective and job-embedded professional development activities.
