Medical Billing Specialist

Nat-SU Healthcare has an immediate need for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist who is a subject matter expert in Medicaid and Medicare billing as well as other private insurance companies. 

Job Responsibilities

• Meet with potential client to complete Medicaid application.
• Knowledge of billing process
• Use electronic EMR billing system.
• Knowledge of commercial, Medicare and Medicaid policies and billing guidelines
• Correct Medicaid claims in electronic billing system for missing or invalid insurance or patient information according to procedures.
• Works closely with department heads to ensure claims information is being submitted accurately and timely.
• Communicate with State Medicaid/Medicare officials and IHS Medicaid/Medicare officials when needed.
• Keep management aware of issues and trends to enhance operations.
• Maintains productivity standard as set forth by management team.
• Monitor unpaid claims – making corrections as needed.
• Report regularly to Clinic Administrator regarding claims
• Track common claims errors and create solutions.
• Audit patient files as needed for accuracy in billing.
• Problem solving

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• 1-3 years of medical billing experience in Medicaid, Medicare and commercial payors claims and appeals processing.
• CPT codes for medical and behavioral health (substance abuse)
• Proficient in Excel
• Billing experience in:
• Podiatry
• Dentistry
• Optometry
• Substance abuse
• General family practice
• Behavioral Health

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

• 3-5 years of experience
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payors claims and appeals processing requirements a must.
• Knowledge of ICD, CPT and HCPC coding, ability to ready EOB and ERA files.
• Deep understanding of CCI edits and carrier specific coding edits for the above-mentioned specialties.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows, MS Word, Internet Explorer, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Must have a deep understanding of the Medical Billing Process and Industry Standard
• Ability to manage and fulfill client expectations.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Proven track record or writing compelling appeals with favorable outcomes.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a customer service focus
• Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities professionally.
• Knowledge of medical computerized billing and scheduling software systems
• Personal track record of being thorough, courteous and responsive in customer service.
• Ability to communicate with various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner self-starter, with the ability to organize work for maximum efficiency and attention to quality.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to grasp new concepts and procedures quickly, with a desire to learn.
