Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) offers a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. As one of the campuses of the University of North Carolina (UNC) system, North Carolina Central University is located in Durham near Research Triangle Park. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is a full-time, campus-based clinical experience and has a focus on serving diverse populations. The Master of Science degree program in Speech-Language Pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. The North Carolina Central University Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic provide Speech, Language, and Hearing evaluations and treatment services for monolingual and bilingual clients from birth through adult age. |

Primary Purpose of Position | The primary purpose of this position is clinical education and supervision of graduate students for the North Carolina Central University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. Additional duties include service and some scholarly activities. This position will enable the program to maintain accreditation by the CAA in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Candidates who have fluency in a second language (Spanish Preferred), have expertise in bilingual and multicultural service delivery, and program development expertise will receive preferential consideration. Other areas of expertise will also be considered. Candidates must be familiar with the current trends of the profession, have knowledge of and passion for cultural and linguistic diversity, and knowledge of a range of disabilities across the life span. A commitment to effective clinical education and student development is required. |
Minimum Education/Experience | Earned Masters or Doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech, and Hearing Science or Communication Sciences and Disorders. Candidates must have a Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP, a minimum of three years of clinical experience, and a minimum of two years of clinical supervision experience. Must meet the requirements for clinical supervision stated by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Assoicaitaiton and be eligible for North Carolina Licensure. |
Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation | Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA; possess or eligible for NC Licensure in Speech Pathology |
