Director – Training and Client Development
This position will fully utilize a diverse set of skills, focused on expanding the mission of the Nebraska Enterprise Fund (NEF), www.nebbiz.org, throughout Nebraska.Basic Function:
The Director – Training and Client Development leads NEF’s training and coaching strategy to ensure that the NEF’s clients have access to training and development services that supports their businesses in starting up and growing diverse small businesses across Nebraska. The successful candidate is a collaborative team leader who identifies, develops, structures, analyzes, provides businesses with best practice training, technical assistance, mentoring and coaching consistent with the mission of the Nebraska Enterprise Fund. This role requires resourceful partnership development to succeed in meeting the training and capacity development needs of NEF’s target markets leading to a stronger small business eco-system.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Technical Assistance and Business Development Services - Responsible for working with businesses to evaluate overall financial health, determine business capacity and acumen, verify credit-readiness, and assess project feasibility. Present workshops on various business management and financing topics to ensure businesses have access to education supporting vibrant business growth . Provide relevant and timely mentoring, coaching, and technical assistance to a diverse group of businesses. Able to relate to multi-cultural and diverse markets.
- Program Strategy and Research - Responsible for researching and assembling background information and materials on potential training programs relevant to local market needs.
- Curriculum Development and Management – Ensures that NEF training strategy is at best practice levels and is developed to reach target markets. Creates and commissions the development of new curriculum when needed to meet the demands of the eco-system.
- Business Development - Responsible for cultivating relationships with emerging small and microbusinesses, banks, other local financial intermediaries, and Micro-Development Organizations. Promote increased visibility in market. Represent NEF in public forums, facilitate community outreach efforts, and build referral networks. Collaborates with other resource providers to maximize outreach and implement training strategy.
- Preparing Reports – Responsible for providing quarterly reports on outcomes of training and coaching activities.
- Lending Referals – Refers potential clients to NEF staff or other programs and banks as appropriate for loan application.
- Program Marketing - Responsible for developing strong and effective relationships with NEF's existing clients and partners and actively cultivates new partnerships and clients. Interface with NEF’s key stakeholders to identify synergistic relationships and program development.
- Market Research - Responsible for reading, reviewing, and summarizing relevant community reports, ordinances, plans and documents related to the local market.

- Openness to learning new skills and systems, with an entrepreneurial work ethic
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Access experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, economics, or related field or equivalent experience
- Spanish skills a significant plus
This position is based in Omaha Nebraska, and provides support for NEF training across Nebraska. Regular travel to visit businesses is required. Occasional air travel may be required for industry meetings and/or training.

- Directly to the Executive Director
