Accounting Manager

Job Title: Accounting Manager (with Payroll Focus)

Compensation: $90,000–$115,000 annually

Location: Mill Valley ( hybrid after 90 days)

You will play a critical leadership role in finance and payroll operations while helping shape the future of the department.

What you will be doing:

· Supervise a centralized accounting department supporting 10 remote branch vessel operations

· Oversee all general accounting functions including AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting

· Process multi-state payroll for approximately 100 employees using ADP Workforce Now

· Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations

· Produce reports including weekly cash flow, monthly vendor activity, and receivables

· Support the Corporate Controller in the preparation of financial statements and audits

· Train and direct staff on internal reporting and system usage

· Collaborate with IT to maintain and enhance accounting systems

· Coach and evaluate accounting staff, manage scheduling, and report time off to HR

· Prepare payroll reports, billings, workers comp filings, and HSA contribution summaries

· Assist employees with payroll-related questions and support compliance across tax jurisdictions

What you bring:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

· 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience, including 2 years managing teams

· At least 2 years of hands-on payroll experience using ADP Workforce Now

· Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills

· Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels

· Experience with public accounting is a plus

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

· Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and collaborative teamwork

· Willingness to work extended hours during month-end, audit, and year-end periods
