Our Client Services Representative will:

The Client Services Team is responsible for all aspects of customer service, including but not limited to, scheduling and processing surrender and return appointments, adoptions, and assisting the community. The Client Services Team accomplishes the NHS mission through great customer service, ensuring the community has a positive experience, and providing resources that help both pets and the public.

Qualifications


Essential Duties/Functions:

1. Greet and assist all customers in a positive and helpful manner.

2. Promptly answer telephone and direct calls to the proper destination.

3. Respond to email correspondence in a professional and timely manner.

4. Provide information to the public regarding Nevada Humane Society (NHS) programs and services or other animal related matters.

5. Assisting the community with scheduling surrender appointments and providing resources to keep animals in the home.

6. Handle the surrender of animals into the shelter ensuring that all proper documentation has been completed.

7. Compassionately assist customers utilizing euthanasia services.

8. Assist and counsel potential adopters and complete the adoption process.

9. Assist customers with other NHS programs and services including but not limited to trap rentals, pet food assistance, community service, adoptions, surrenders and returns.

10. Maintain the integrity of data in animal software system, ensuring animal intakes and outcomes are recorded accurately. 1

1. Handles cash and financial transactions including sales, refunds, donations, logs donations as needed and completes opening and closing duties.

12. Assist with training volunteers and community service members in related work areas.

13. Caring for and handling animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and others.

14. Responsible for keeping and maintaining a clean, healthy, and organized work environment for animals, staff volunteers and customers.

15. In the event of an emergency, assist with the handling and evacuation of animals located at either Nevada Humane Society campus.


Working Conditions: Air-conditioned office or air-conditioned building with computer and internet access. May require travel within a workday on a regular basis. Work is also performed outdoors and/or offsite for shelter events. Use of personal vehicles may be required for fieldwork; mileage allowance will be provided.

 

Equipment Use: Telephone, cell phone, computer, printer, scanner, copier, and other office-related equipment. May require use of personal and company vehicles. Pet related items and animal restraint equipment. (leashes, collars, harnesses, carriers, etc.)

 

Work Hours: This is an hourly position that requires flexibility. While a typical workweek will be 40 hours, days off, or scheduling may change based on the needs of the organization, attendance at events and other functions may require longer hours or holiday, weekend, and evening work.

 

Mental Demands: Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and handle various levels of stress. Position requires excellent organizational skills, as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have adequate judgment and self-confidence to handle decision making duties. Must be able to meet deadlines and delegate appropriately. Must be a team player able to give and receive instructions and work effectively with all staff. Requires exceptional attention to detail, courteous and professional demeanor, extensive interaction with staff and public, Ability work with staff and volunteers in a fair and ethical manner. Requires the ability to think clearly, act quickly and utilize sound judgment in a variety of situations. Requires the ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated. Must be able to endure long hours and remain alert, energized, and positive.

 

Physical Demands: This position may involve desk and computer work and being on your feet for long periods of time. Position may include (vehicle) travel back and forth to outside venues as well as some lifting. Must be able to work at a fast and efficient pace. Requires lifting heavy objects more than 50 pounds. Ability to safely handle and control animals of all kinds.

 

Safety Demands: This position is safety sensitive due to the requirement to prioritize the safety of employees and the public in a setting where live animals with unknown dispositions are located. This position involves the requirement to act immediately. This position involves the risk of exposure to animals with unpredictable or aggressive behavior.  This position may involve exposure to allergens produced by exposure to animal dander, saliva, or fur. This position involves the risk of exposure to zoonotic disease.

 

Desired Experience: Experience in same or related position in a nonprofit setting-preferably animal welfare. Record of continually increasing responsibilities with measurable results. A sincere interest in Organization’s mission and vision and increasing visibility within the community.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • High School graduate (or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in customer service or hospitality field. Demonstrable public relations and customer service skills.
  • Confident computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, social media, and internet navigation.  
  • Ability to function independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and written skills. 
  • Ability to stay abreast of new developments in the community, especially as it relates to animal welfare.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written and observational skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be goal-oriented, self-starter with a willingness and maturity to go beyond prescribed work and time schedules and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada or California Driver’s license with valid registration and insurance of personal vehicles for all positions that require driving as an essential function.

 

General Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for animals and support the mission of the Nevada Humane Society.
  • Must treat animals humanely, with love and concern both on and off the job and transmit these values to others.
  • Must adhere to all local laws regarding personally owned animals.
  • General knowledge of pet behavior and care. Ability to work with all kinds of animals in a safe and responsible manner.
  • A positive attitude is a must!

 

Additional Qualifications that would benefit this position:

  • College degree.
