Description
Job Summary:
Technician monitors installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair work for a variety of devices. The job can be physically demanding as the technician must be able to stand and walk around for extended periods of time and be able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.
Primary Duties:
- Inspect, test, calibrate and maintain industrial weigh scales. This includes light industrial weighing less than 20lbs to heavy capacity weighing more than 100,000 lbs.
- Good trouble shooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Respond to Call Service (Emergency) to fix and repair scales. Must be willing to work some overtime and occasional weekend hours.
- Connect and wire peripherals, such as remote displays, printers, and PLC’s.
- Program indicators to control output signals and strings.
- Use of multi-meter, load cells, simulator, most hand tools, many electrical hand tools as well as soldering iron/gun, hack saw, grinders, and sanders.
- Wire remote control and other RF devices.
- Perform appropriate procedures, documentation, inventory assessment, and other procedures related to IT.
- Maintain, monitor, and analyze system components.
- Support and maintain end user requirements, including troubleshooting, and training.
- Installation of a variety of cabling in various environments.
- Installation of a variety of devices in various environments.
- Must be willing to operate fork truck if necessary.
- Must have good verbal/written communication skills and understand basic math skills.
- Consistently maintain good work attendance and productive work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Attention to detail – technicians use attention to detail to conduct thorough inspections of ongoing and completed work, and to search for imperfections that may compromise the finished project.
- Communication skills – excellent communication skills are essential for a technician, who must speak effectively regarding all work projects.
- Computer skills – some computer skills are required.
- Mechanical aptitude – need strong mechanical skills to inspect the tools, vehicles, and equipment used by technicians and determine whether these materials are up to company standards.
Physical Demands:
- Physically able to lift 50 to 100 pounds repeatedly, Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Twist, Reach, Lift, and Grasp
- May be sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time.
