Summary/Objective
The Career Coach is responsible for following the guidelines of Pre-ETS. Help support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their individual goals by teaching skills in a nurturing environment so they can have full access to their community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing personal assistance in Workplace Readiness, Self-Advocacy, Job Exploration, Counseling of Post-Secondary Education, and Work-Based learning in community employment settings. The ability to lead, engage, and support students to have better employment outcomes. Experiences working with individuals with disabilities is helpful, but not required.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:

- Follow the rules and guidelines of the Pre-ETS Contract and respective school districts in which you are working
- Document all student-based activities accurately within 36 hours
- Adhere to the scheduling and hour requirement established in the Process Document
- Provide opportunities for students to develop skills that will help them reach their individual goal for employment
- Implement creativity to respond to the unique job goals of each student
- Establish a strong partnership with local businesses for job shadowing/internship experiences for your students
- Provide transportation to the students to attend job shadows, meetings, and college visits
- Be a strong resource and advocate for the students, families, and teachers for transition
- Attend IEP meetings when attendance is requested
- Foster and maintain strong ties with local business, volunteer programs, our families, the school districts, and the State Pre-ETS Program
- Defuse complication with students and employers
- Communicate with the NHR Community Employment Management team monthly for updates in the program/schools
- Be a leader at NHR: uphold the mission/vision/goals of the agency; represent the agency well

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
Works in a high school setting
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
This position is occasionally performed in inside weather conditions

Physical Demands
This position can require a Career Coach to be on their feet from 4 to 8hours.
There can be lite bending and lifting
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
As this is a part-time position: Days and hours worked are typically scheduled within the Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. time frame. Work schedule will be determined with your manager.
Travel
Travel is required if necessary, this is a reimbursable activity if you drive your own car. Company car available upon request.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma required; 4 years higher education preferred
- Must possess or be able to complete the requirement for First Aid/CPR certification
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License
- Eighteen (18) Years of Age or Older
