GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position will serve as the clinical leader of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. In this role the psychiatrist will perform
clinical psychiatric evaluations on assigned patients, prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, writing orders for these
as well as ancillary services, therapeutic modalities, precautionary watches and alerts and emergency interventions. When
clinically appropriate, the psychiatrist will pursue permission to treat non-consenting patients with non-emergent psychotropic
medication, in accordance with the Division of Behavioral Health Services procedures. Will engage in crisis intervention using
de-escalation techniques, as well as ordering any necessary medication, and, when clinically indicated, seclusion or restraint.
The psychiatrist will perform psychiatric evaluations, authoring reports and providing related testimony at civil commitment,
competency to stand trial and Krol hearings, some of which are in-person and off the hospital premises. The work schedule will
be
Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (35 hours/week). The position is classified
as No Limit, meaning that extra hours and/or coverage after hours, holidays and weekends may at times be expected.
REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSES)
CERTIFICATION: Possession of current certification as a diplomate in the specialty of psychiatry issued by the American Board
of Psychiatry and Neurology.
LICENSE: Possession of an Unrestricted License to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey.
Possession of an unrestricted State of New Jersey Controlled Dangerous Substances License.
Possession of an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration number.
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than
employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
